Begin with the actual machine
Put serial/PIN, full model, year, indicated hours, engine plate and physical location on one record. Add the fitted boom/arm, track or tyre arrangement, counterweight and attachments. The inspection compares this configuration with the job it will do; a model catalogue cannot describe the condition of a particular used machine.
Divide the inspection into repair-cost systems
| System | Record | Likely purchase follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Cold start and engine | Start/run video, fluids, plate, service records | Filters, cooling items, engine/fuel repair |
| Hydraulics under work | Function response, external leakage, hose/port views | Pump, valves, cylinder seals and hose assemblies |
| Tracks and drive | Track marking, rollers, sprockets, guides, movement | Track pair, roller/drive assemblies |
| Working linkage | Pin movement, mounting bores, arm and bucket geometry | Pins, bushes, teeth, bucket and coupler |
| Controls and electrical | Display faults, switches, connectors and wiring | Sensors, harness, starter/charging items |
Use component identity to price the repair
For a 320D/320D2 engine repair, the machine prefix and Type 1/Type 2 pump branch lead to different injection-pump lines. For a T870 track order, Roller and Torsion Suspension have different track geometries. Price the component selected for the actual machine instead of a generic allowance labelled “pump” or “tracks”.
Inspect the attachment as part of the sale
Record hammer body and tool size, bucket mounting and teeth, grapple rotation and cylinders, screen basket/mesh or crusher jaw plates. List every supplied bracket, hose, pin, controller and working tool. A low machine price with missing installation items can change the delivered work package.
Compare cost to an operational package
| Line | What to list |
|---|---|
| Machine | Actual unit, fitted configuration and purchase price |
| Inspection | Site inspection, test records and component findings |
| Repair preparation | Parts, workmanship and service items |
| Working tools | Attachments, installation and wear parts |
| Logistics | Dimensions, removable items, loading and destination |
| Handover | Machine records, component identities and spare-parts list |
Request sourcing or inspection support
Send the target full model, intended work, preferred year/hour range, unit location if identified, delivery location and timetable. Attach the unit photos and available checks. The purchase discussion can compare the actual machine with its repair and attachment list, or build a sourcing brief for alternative units.
