Start with the complete machine name
A “Cat 320” enquiry can involve a 320D, 320D2 or another generation. The letter and generation belong on the procurement list beside the serial-number prefix. On a repair job, the machine plate and the old component plate answer different questions: the first identifies the carrier, while the second identifies the assembly being replaced.
Two generations, different engine-system orders
The water-pump and alternator numbers change between these two machines. The 320D2 injection-pump choice also has a Type 1/Type 2 branch under ZCS and RAR. This is why a list that says only “320 parts” leaves a workshop with several possible assemblies.
| Machine | Serial prefix | Water pump | Fuel injection pump | Alternator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 320D | KGF / GDP | 178-6633 | 326-4635 | 212-8561 |
| 320D2 | DNS | 485-4894 | 463-1678 | 344-5081 |
| 320D2 | ZCS / RAR · Type 1 | 485-4894 | 398-1498 | 344-5081 |
| 320D2 | ZCS / RAR · Type 2 | 485-4894 | 463-1678 | 344-5081 |
Keep the engine, undercarriage and cylinders separate
Build the repair list by system. Record the engine components under their engine-system prefixes; keep track rollers, chain, sprockets and cylinder seal kits under their own location and assembly numbers. A prefix appearing in an engine table is not a shortcut for every component on the machine.
| System | Identity to record | Order detail |
|---|---|---|
| Engine and fuel | Engine plate, old part number, machine prefix | Pump type, mounting and supplied gaskets |
| Undercarriage | Roller position, old number, track/chain dimensions | Single or double flange, quantity per side |
| Cylinder repair | Boom/arm/bucket position, cylinder assembly | Rod and bore dimensions, seals and wear rings |
| Hydraulic pump | Full nameplate suffix and regulator | Shaft, mounting flange, ports and included pilot pump |
Equip the excavator for its next job
A hammer package needs the hammer body, mounting bracket, pin interface, hoses and working tools. A rock bucket needs capacity, cutting-edge and tooth choices as well as mounting dimensions. Add the machine’s auxiliary flow and pressure settings to a powered-attachment enquiry; bucket or hammer class alone does not describe the hydraulic installation.
Send one repair or attachment purchase list
Put the complete machine model and prefix at the top, then list the part number, component position and quantity on each line. For an injection pump, add the old pump plate and regulator/connector views. For an attachment, add the working material and mounting drawing. The same enquiry can combine engine repairs, undercarriage parts and a new working tool.
